This volume is a sequel to The Abbey and Mint of Bury St Edmunds to 1279 (London, 2006). It concentrates on the abbey and mint from 1279 until the closure of the mint c. 1329. An initial chapter outlines the historical background to the operation of the abbey and mint to 1279, based upon the far more detailed account in the earlier companion volume. It provides acontext for the following two chapters covering the reigns of Edward I and Edward II to the accession of Edward III. A concluding chapter summarizes major events affecting the abbey until its dissolution in 1539. The Catalogue in this volume incorporates a die study of almost 2,500 coins struck at Bury during the fifty year period to c. 1329.
