This book is the first truly encyclopaedic coin dictionary in the English language. The wealth of information it contains would be difficult to find in any other volume and its value as a reference work in the world of numismatics has been recognised by the award of the prestigious Lhotka Prize of the Royal Numismatic Society. 

Arranged in A-Z order, there are over 1500 entries, from A.A.F.F (a reference to the gold, silver, and copper found in Roman coins) to Johann Anthonie Zwekkert, a famous Dutch engraver.
