Medieval Coins of Bohemia, Hungary and Poland by Frynas, Jedrzej George

 Hardback, 340 pages, illustrated throughout.

This is the first catalogue of its kind, bringing together Bohemian, Hungarian and Polish medieval coinages from the 10th to the 15th centuries. Based on the newest scholarship and new coin attributions the catalogue features more than 80 new coin types not listed in previous catalogues and over 1600 coin types are illustrated.

The coinages of Bohemia, Poland and Hungary, whilst close to each other at their beginnings, were much diversified over time yet returned to a mutual similarity during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. This excellent catalogue not only facilitates collecting coins but it also provides a framework to compare these three coinages and to learn of both the development of recent research or gaps remaining in our knowledge.  Prof. Borys Paszkiewicz, University of Warsaw

This is a much needed, unique and very impressive catalogue on the coinage of three medieval Central-Eastern European kingdoms, reflecting the deep monetary connections that existed between Bohemia, Hungary and Poland throughout half a millennium. Dr. Csaba Toth, Hungarian National Museum
